Here’s a simple and delicious pizza recipe you can make at home:
Ingredients:
For the Dough:
- 2 ¼ teaspoon active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 1 ½ cups warm water (110°F/45°C)
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano (optional)
For the Sauce:
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the Toppings:
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (or your preferred cheese)
- Additionally toppings (pepperoni, bell peppers, mushrooms, onions, olives, etc.)
- Fresh basil leaves (optional)
- Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions of Pizza Recipe:
1. Make the Dough:
- In a small bowl, mix the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Then, Stir to combine and let sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
- Meanwhile, In a large bowl, combine the flour, olive oil, salt, and any optional seasonings (garlic powder, oregano).
- Next, Pour the yeast mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until a dough forms.
- After that, Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Finally, Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a clean towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise for 1–2 hours, or until doubled in size.
2. Make the Sauce:
- In a saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the garlic powder (if using) and cook for 30 seconds.
- Add the tomato sauce, basil, sugar, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Simmer on low heat for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
3. Assemble the Pizza:
- First, Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven as it preheats.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into two portions for smaller pizzas or keep it whole for a large pizza.
- Next, Roll out the dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
- Then, Place the rolled dough onto a pizza peel or baking sheet if you’re not using a pizza stone.
- Afterward, Spread a layer of pizza sauce over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Finally, Sprinkle a generous amount of mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
- Next, Add your preferred toppings (e.g., pepperoni, vegetables, olives, etc.).
4. Bake the Pizza:
- Carefully transfer the pizza to the preheated oven (or pizza stone) and bake for 10–15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
- If you like a crispy crust, additionally, you can bake for a few extra minutes.
5. Garnish & Serve:
- Once baked, remove from the oven and top with fresh basil leaves and grated Parmesan cheese, if desired.
