This is an easy recipe for making tasty Momo Recipe. Momos are a famous steamed dumpling made with delicious veggies or meat. To make the filling, finely cut the veggies or meat and season with ginger, garlic, soy sauce, and spices. Next, combine all-purpose flour, water, and a pinch of salt, and knead until smooth. Roll the dough into tiny discs and fill them with the prepared filling. Then, fold and seal the edges to make the dumplings. Finally, steam the momos for 10-15 minutes until thoroughly done. Ingredients of Momo Recipe

 For the Dough:
2 cups of all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
Water as needed

For the Filling:

1 cup finely chopped veggies (cabbage, carrots, bell peppers, and onions are ideal)
1 tablespoon of ginger-garlic paste.
2 tablespoons of soy sauce.
Additionally, 1 teaspoon sesame oil is optional.
Add salt and pepper to taste.
Add chopped green chiles or cilantro for extra flavor.

Instructions

 Step 1: Make the Dough

1. First, In a mixing bowl, add all-purpose flour and salt.
2. Next, Gradually add water and knead into a smooth, soft dough.
3. Finally, cover the dough with a moist cloth and let it rest for about 30 minutes.

Step 2: Prepare the Filling

1. Begin by heating a little oil in a hot pan and sautéing the ginger-garlic paste for one minute.
2. Next, Stir in the chopped vegetables and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until cooked.
3. Finally, add the soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, pepper, and any additional ingredients. Mix thoroughly and allow to cool.

 Step 3: Shape the Momos

1. First, form the dough into little balls (about the size of a golf ball).
2. Now, roll each ball into a thin circle (approximately 3-4 inches in diameter).
3. Finally, place a spoonful of vegetable filling in the center of each circle.
4. Fold the edges together and pinch to seal, resulting in a pleated look. They can also be shaped into half moons.

 Step 4: Steam the Momos

1. First, Start by placing a steamer pot over boiling water. If you do not have a steamer, you can place a plate on top of a pot of boiling water.
2. Next, lightly oil the steamer basket to keep it from sticking.
3. Next, arrange the momos in the steamer, leaving space between them.
4. Finally, steam the dough for 10-15 minutes, until it is cooked and slightly transparent.

 Step 5: Serve


Serve hot with chili sauce or a dipping sauce of your choice.

Here’s a simple recipe for a flavorful momo chutney, often served alongside momos:

Ingredients

3–4 dried red chiles (according to taste)
2–3 cloves of garlic
1 small piece of ginger (approximately one inch)
1 medium tomato (optional, for tangy flavor)
Add 1 tablespoon of soy sauce (optional).
Add 1 teaspoon of vinegar or lemon juice.
Additionally, add salt to taste.
Also, fresh coriander (optional for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: First, soak dried red chilies in warm water for about 15 minutes to soften them.
  2. Blend the Chutney: Next, mix together the soaked chiles, garlic, ginger, and tomato (if using). Blend until smooth, adding a little water if necessary.
  3. Add Flavorings: Next, add soy sauce, vinegar or lemon juice, and salt to taste. Blend again until everything is thoroughly blended.
  4. Taste and Adjust: Finally, taste the chutney and adjust the salt, acidity, and spice levels to suit your tastes.
